York County Adult Drug Treatment Court :  

Admissions Process:

Application - A Defendant must be referred to the program by the Solicitor's office, the Public Defender's office or a private attorney. An appointment is made to apply. The offender will bring a, picture id, social security card, and an application fee of $100.00 (MONEY ORDER) to the application appointment. An interview will be conducted at the time of application.

Investigation - The Drug Treatment Court staff will run a criminal history and contact all parties involved in the case for recommendations.

Approval - The case must be approved by the Drug Treatment Court Tribunal. Once approved, the defendant must plead guilty in front a Circuit Court Judge. The sentencing will be deferred pending successful completion of Drug Treatment Court.

Participation - The offender will be required to meet stringent counseling obligations and will be required to attend court on a weekly basis. A participation fee of $20.00(money order), will be paid at each Drug Treatment Court appearance. The program is designed to last from 20 to 24 months.

Completion - Upon successful completion the charges will be dismissed. After 1 year the charges may be expunged as long as the client has not relapsed or reoffended.

**If at any time the offender fails to comply with program regulations, the case may be terminated and returned to court where the Defendant will be sentenced on the original charges to which he/she plead guilty.

***DUI charges are ineligible for Drug Treatment Court.***
